It can be a challenge. Can it not?

The adolescent, older child or young adult can bring out things in us that we are not prepared for. They may "press the buttons" and you may need a little more understanding and confidence in these cases.

This course is designed to support you with this, as an 'in servicing' to graduates as a certificate standard course or as an experiential course for those without diploma training.

As with the Working with Children course it adds to your skills or gives you some new ones. This course also fosters healing the adolescent within you. What a wondrous experience to embrace this part of ourselves, our inner adolescent.

It has been a complete blessing to have so many wonderful children, adolescents and adults being a part of the personal development programs within the centre. Families working together and supporting their own empowerment are individuals on their own path of growth, power and personal empowerment.

Modules:

Module 1

An introduction to working with, supporting, listening to and nurturing the older child / young adult. The skills of holistic counselling foster the support of growth and personal development in the individual and is especially suitable for the age group of beautiful people that is neither the child anymore and yet not the adult either. Listening from the heart and having a relaxed and comfortable demeanour and creating a safe and comfortable space enables the participant to share feelings, thoughts and ideas.

Module 2.

Telling the story

It is not uncommon for the adolescent to be uncomfortable in the sharing of thoughts and feelings, however, there is sometimes the opportunity to share the story .

This section of the course is introduced through student handouts, references to books and specialists through talks and lectures and examples of case studies.

2. Making spontaneous Images within a circle

3. Understanding more about mandalas and how to present them to the adolescent in such a way that it is inviting and non threatening.
