Clients with Special Needs
Module No 14

It is not unusual and in fact quite common for clients with physical impairment or very particular needs such as delayed mental capabilities, diminished eyesight, hearing impairment, autism and Aspergers syndrome to walk in through the doors of the counselling room. The labels are not really of consequence to us, however, the needs of the individual certainly are.
This part of the course has been especially prepared by a person who is trained in this field and consists of processes, to be used by holistic counsellors but also for people working with people with `special needs'.
The processes are experiential and assist the participants to gain insight into the needs of people who, for whatever reason, do not have the complete use of all abilities and/or senses, eg. Sight, hearing etc.

This raising of awareness in the individual who is in the position of counselling or facilitating may enhance a more valuable experience for the being with special needs who is in your care.
